A Consistent Tua Tagoviloa Could Be QB1 In Fantasy
Tua is coming off his best season so far in his young career, throwing for a career-high in passing yards and TDs, 4,624 and 29, while also having a career-high in Interceptions (14). The 2023 season was his first time playing all 17 games and silenced the haters by having the passing numbers expected from a former 1st round pick.
Through his first four years, Tua has never provided much ground production, and with the number of injuries he's suffered early in his career, running production is unlikely to change. Tua has probably the fastest supporting crew around him in Wide Receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle while also having running backs Raheem Mostert, Devon Achane, and rookie Jaylen Wright.
With all of the previously mentioned players' pure speed, Tua can make some big plays that will allow him to have weeks with big numbers. On the contrary, he has looked inconsistent at times in his career, which could also give him some pretty disappointing fantasy weeks. Tua should be drafted with the upside of being a top-five quarterback but with the potential to finish outside of the top 15.
The fact of the matter is that Tua had 7 (QB1, QB2, QB3, QB9. QB10, QB12, QB12) QB1 finishes, 7 low-end QB2 (QB23, QB18, QB22, QB23, QB22, QB16, QB24) finishes and 2 finishes outside the top 24 last season. He is just as likely to win you a week as he lose it. In Superflex, he could be useful as your QB2, but you can't trust him as your only QB.
Our consensus projections for Tua in the 2024 season would be: 400 completions, 4734 yards, 30 touchdowns, 11 interceptions through the air, and 35 carries for 105 yards and 1 rushing touchdown.
