A Healthy Jonathon Brooks Can Be A Fantasy Stud In 2024

Jonathon Brooks was the first running back selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. With the 46th pick, he went to the Carolina Panthers. Brooks spent most of his college career behind Bijan Robinson, so he only got one season to truly shine as their main running back. In his first two seasons, he averaged 7.15 yards per touch and 3 touchdowns on only 27 touches. Last season, he had 212 touches for 1425 yards (6.7 yards per touch) and 11 touchdowns before tearing his ACL against TCU.

The Panthers were a great landing spot for him because Chubba Hubbard and Miles Sanders can handle the work if Brooks isn’t 100% right away. The injury occurred in early November, so with no setback, Brooks should be ready for the back half of training camp and able to ramp up a decent amount to be close to full go. I would still predict that he is eased into his workload, but after Week 4 or 5, Brooks can be the Panthers' lead back.

With Dave Canales coming over from Tampa Bay, I expect Bryce to utilize his check-downs and get the running backs involved in the passing game. Rachaad White had 70 last season with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Brooks could have that even well not being a full-time player early in the season because he might be the most explosive player on the offense. As it is currently constituted, the offense will not be scoring many touchdowns, the injury can hamper early volume, and the depth chart for this year is a bit crowded.

Brooks might not be the league winner for redraft leagues, but he certainly should be a useful asset in youthful dynasty teams. In dynasty rookie drafts, Brooks can be the fourth player off the board (1QB leagues) in Superflex after the Daniels, Williams, and the top 3 WRs. Brooks is fair game at pick 6, but if you are a contender in need of immediate help, you might be better off moving that pick. In Redraft, you can take him and stash him on the IR until he is ready to go.

Our consensus projections for McCaffrey in the 2024 season are 191 carries for 860 yards and 4 touchdowns. In the receiving game, his consensus projection is 38 receptions for 422 yards and 3 touchdowns.
