After Playing The Packers, Disgruntled Wide Receiver Asks For Trade
In the last week, there has been plenty of news regarding wide receivers that are unhappy with their situation on their team. Can the Packers actually trade for a wide receiver and help out the offense?
The New York Jets wide receiver recently spoke out about his frustration with the Jets franchise and has asked for a trade. Elijah Moore was a second-round draft pick for the Jets in 2021 but after the additions of two rookies in the most recent draft, Moore has been phased out of the offensive game plan. Elijah would fit in great as a young stud on the Packers’ offense if they choose to pursue him. Moore can play out of the slot and can also be a deep threat, which he proved last year.
What Happened In The Packers Versus Jets Game?
In Week six, the Jets traveled to Lambeau Field to play the hometown Green Bay Packers. The game was ugly on both sides of the ball for both teams. After it was all said and done, the New York Jets walked away from Green Bay with a win and not everyone was happy about what went on during the game. Wide receiver Elijah Moore only had one target in the whole game and it was called back due to a penalty. For a wideout who exploded last year for the Jets, you can see how it’s troubling that he has had a lack of targets to start this season.

If The Jets Traded Elijah Moore, Can The Packers Afford Him?
It’s hard to tell who the Packers’ front office might be interested in since they’ve kept quiet over the last couple of weeks. The November 1st trade deadline will continue to inch closer with each passing day so this is not the time to sit by and wait. Green Bay has just over $6 million in cap space, which is more than enough to trade for a stud wide receiver and even possibly an offensive lineman to help out front.
Several wide receivers have been linked to the Packers organization as almost everyone knows that the Packers are hurting at the wide receiver position. This could be good or bad. Good because teams know what the Packers need, and bad because they may want an overpay to move an asset. Either way, the Packers have been linked to Pittsburgh Steelers’ Chase Claypool, Carolina Panthers’ DJ Moore, Seattle Seahawks’ Tyler Lockett, and New York Giants’ Darius Slayton.
Now with the news regarding New York Jets’ Elijah Moore, there’s another wide receiver in the mix. Even though the Jets organization said they weren’t interested in trading Elijah Moore, that could change based on Moore’s attitude leading up to the trade deadline. No franchise wants a disgruntled player disrupting the locker room, so if a team sent the Jets a fair offer, it might result in a trade. When I think of Elijah Moore, I think of Ty Montgomery during the time that he played with the Packers.
Since Elijah Moore is still in the second year of his rookie contract and he was a second-rounder, his cap hit is very minimal, which may be why the Jets want to keep him and possibly cater to his needs. The cap hit is barely over $2 million on the year so the Packers could take over the rest of what he’s due, take over the rest of his rookie contract, and also compensate the Jets with draft picks or a depth player combo.
