Alec Pierce Fantasy Skill Set Duplicated By A Better Player?
In Pierce’s first two seasons, he tallied 1108 yards and four touchdowns, which showed promise for the young receiver moving forward. He has managed to have this decent production, even with poor quarterback play from the Colts. If Anthony Richardson stays on the field, he will be the best quarterback that Pierce has had in the NFL.
Sadly, now that he has a solid quarterback, he may be stuck in a position where he does not find much playing time. The Colts spent their second-round pick on Adonai Mitchell (who can do everything Pierce can do but better), and it now looks like Mitchell, Michael Pittman Jr., and Josh Downs will handle the roles of the primary three targets.
Pierce could maybe retain some playing time at the beginning of the season, but it would be no surprise that Mitchell would take away time as he gets ramped up. Pierce has often been used as a deep threat in his career, which could allow him to have big plays on occasion even if he is the Colts WR4.
There probably won’t be any consistency due to the nature of their offense. Barring any injuries to the Colts’ other wide receivers, Pierce should stay off your roster in Redraft leagues. In Dynasty, he's a stash in deeper leagues because talent isn't the big issue here.
Our consensus projections for Pierce in the 2024 season are 22 receptions, 335 yards, and 1 touchdown.
