Alvin Kamara Can Still Hold A Ton Of Fantasy Value In 2024
Alvin Kamara has been a staple of the fantasy world since he was drafted; even after a 3-game suspension on a bad offense, Kamara finished as RB11 overall. From weeks 4-15, Kamara finished as an RB1 7/11 game and never finished below RB19. Weeks 16 and 17 were disappointing, especially for managers in the fantasy playoffs.
Kamara has averaged at least 72 receptions a season during his seven-year career. With no serious investment in pass catchers, it seems likely that Kamara will be peppered in the passing game again. Currently, it is reported that Alvin is seeking a new contract extension, but at the moment, it doesn’t appear to be causing him to miss time.
If things don't go well this season, he could be a possible trade candidate before the deadline. As things stand right now, the Saints are in a tough state with Derek Carr, but this is a good thing for Kamara. He went from averaging 82 receptions for the first four seasons of his career to 52, which is a massive decrease. In Carr’s first season AK shot back up to 75 receptions in just 13 games, if he plays a full season with the same usage he would add another 23 catches bringing his total to 98 receptions which would be a career high.
His career average yards per reception is 8.4, which would give AK 823 receiving yards, just 3 yards shy of his career high. Kamara is the 53rd player off the board in 1QB redraft leagues and the 88th player selected in dynasty redraft leagues, both of which are incredible values. His ceiling is insane and his floor is super valuable, he has never finished lower than RB18 in half PPR (RB3, RB4, RB13, RB1, RB8, RB18, RB14). Kamara is 28 with less than 2000 career touches, so there is a chance he can be productive into his early 30s.
Our consensus projections for Kamara in the 2024 season are 199 carries for 916 yards and 8 touchdowns. In the receiving game, his consensus projection is 45 receptions for 308 yards and 2 touchdowns.
