Analyzing A Spicy Upcoming Week 4 ACC Slate

Week three of college football is wrapped up and we look forward to an exciting week four of ACC football headlined by Florida State traveling to Clemson.

Florida State at Clemson is the ACC game of the year and looks to be one for the ages.

Florida State has a chance to lock in another win for their College Football Playoff aspirations and give Jordan Travis another resume builder for his Heisman aspirations as well.

A loss for the Tigers would essentially knock them out of the CFP race with two losses. Stakes are higher than ever and both teams are ready to go. Let's get into the picks and best bets I see for week four.

Friday, September 22, 2023

NC State (-9.5) at Virginia, 6:30 PM, ESPN, O/U 46.5

Previous Week:

VMI @ NC State (W), 45-7

Virginia (L) @ Maryland, 42-14

Location:

Scott Stadium, Charlotte

Analysis and Prediction:

Virginia is the worst team in the ACC and it isn't close. They are 0-3 and have a differential score of 120-62.

They are welcoming an NC State team that played competitively with Notre Dame until the start of the fourth quarter. NC State wins this game with no problem.

Score Prediction:

NC State 37

Virginia 10

Best Bet:

NC State - 9.5

Saturday, September 23rd, 2023

Army @ Syracuse (-13.5), 11:00 AM, ACCN, O/U 50.5

Previous Week:

Army (W) @ UTSA, 37-29

Syracuse (W) @ Purdue, 35-20

Location:

JMA Wireless Dome, Syracuse

Analysis:

Army travels to JMA Wireless Dome to take on the Syracuse Orange.

According to Bleacher Report, 64% of the money is backing Syracuse -13.5. I'm gonna roll with the public here and take Syracuse and the points.

Score Prediction:

Syracuse 37

Army 14

Best Bet:

Syracuse -13.5

Virginia Tech @ Marshall (-5), 11 AM, ESPN, O/U 41

Previous Games:

Virginia Tech (L) @ Rutgers, 35-16

Marshall (W) @ East Carolina, 31-13

Location:

Joan C Edwards Stadium, Marshall

Analysis:

The Hokies have had a slow start to the year starting 1-2 after two disappointing losses to Rutgers and Purdue.

On the other side, Marshall has a perfect 2-0 record. Marshall opens as a five-point favorite and I haven't seen anything from them to make me think they can't cover this.

Score Prediction:

Marshall 21

Virginia Tech 10

Best Bet:

Under 41

Boston College @ Louisville (-14), 2:30 PM, ACCN, O/U 54.5

Previous Games:

Boston College (L) @ Florida State, 31-29

Indiana @ Louisville (W), 21-14

Location:

Cardinal Stadium, Louisville

Analysis:

Boston College gave Florida State all they wanted and some. They were down 31-10 but rallied and brought it within in two. They couldn't seal the deal but showed great fight all game.

Louisville opened as a 14-point favorite but is 1-2 ATS so far in the season. I'm gonna take Louisville to win but Boston College covers.

Score Prediction:

Louisville 27

Boston College 17

Best Bet:

Boston College +14

#18 Duke (-21.5) @ UConn, 2:30 PM, CBS Sports, O/U 48

Previous Games:

Northwestern @ Duke (W), 38-14

FIU @ UConn (L), 24-17

Location:

Pratt and Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field, UConn

Analysis:

Duke has been the surprise team in the ACC so far beating Clemson in week one and holding a 3-0 record. Quarterback Riley Leonard hasn't been a world-beater for the Blue Devils but he's been good enough to win games.

UConn has struggled all year long going 0-3 and this is the best team they've played so far. Not much to say here I don't see this being close.

Score Prediction:

Duke 45

UConn 10

Best Bet:

Duke -21.5

#20 Miami (FL) (-23.5) @ Temple, 2:30 PM, ESPN2, O/U 52.5

Previous Games:

BCU @ Miami (FL) (W), 48-7

Norfolk State @ Temple (W), 41-9

Location:

Lincoln Financial Field, Temple

Analysis:

Miami travels up to Philadelphia to take on the Temple Owls. Miami has the talent advantage at every spot on the field and coaching staff.

There's not much to say here. Miami wins and they win big.

Score Prediction:

Miami 49

Temple 17

Best Bet:

Over 51.5

Georgia Tech @ Wake Forest (-7), 5:30 PM, CW, O/U 60.5

Previous Week:

Georgia Tech (L) @ Ole Miss, 48-23

Wake Forest (W) @ Old Dominion, 27-24

Location:

Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium, Wake Forest

Analysis:

Wake Forest is headed back home after a close win against Old Dominion. Due to late-game heroics by the Wake defense forcing a fumble on the Old Dominion six.

The Yellow Jackets are trying to respond to a tough loss after taking on a red-hot Ole Miss squad.

This is basically a pick-em for me. This game feels like a close one no matter what team wins. I like Wake to win but Tech to cover.

Score Prediction:

Wake Forest 27

Georgia Tech 23

Best Bet:

Georgia Tech +7

#17 North Carolina (-7.5) @ Pittsburgh, 7:00 PM, ACCN, O/U 50

Previous Week:

Minnesota @ North Carolina (W), 31-13

Pittsburgh @ West Virginia (L), 17-6

Location:

Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh

Analysis:

North Carolina comes in with one of the best offenses in the ACC led by NFL quarterback prospect Drake Maye. He's been elite for the Tar Heels this year leading them to a 3-0 record.

This will be his biggest test so far heading into what should be a hostile environment against the best defense he's seen all year.

Pitt just lost to a mediocre West Virginia team by 11. I like North Carolina to win and cover. Pitt won't have an answer on offense for Drake Maye and the Tar Heel offense.

Score Prediction:

North Carolina 27

Pittsburgh 17

Best Bet:

North Carolina -7.5

Game Of The Week:

#4 Florida State (-1.5) at Clemson, 11 AM, ABC, O/U 55.5

Previous Week:

FSU (W) @ Boston College, 31-29

FAU @ Clemson (W), 48-14

Location:

Memorial Stadium, Clemson

Analysis:

Florida State survived a close call last week to Boston College on the road. That gives me slight concern here. They are back on the road facing a more talented Clemson team.

On the other side, the Tigers stumbled in week one losing at Duke. They had no answer for the Duke offense and couldn't get anything going offensively.

The difference for me in this matchup is Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis and his playmakers - Keon Coleman, Trey Benson, Johnny Wilson, and Jaheim Bell.

Jordan Travis and his weapons are too much for Clemson and they score late in the game to officially put this game out of reach.

Score Prediction:

Florida State 37

Clemson 24

Best Bet:

Florida State -1.5

That wraps up my ACC week four picks and best bets. Stay tuned in for my other conference's picks and best bets.
