Another Disastrous Loss By The New York Jets (Week 11, 2024 NFL Season)
I am currently writing this not 2 hours after the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts game ended on November 17th, 2024. I mean, this game is typical Jets. They lost to the Colts 28 to 27, and to be honest, I'm not shocked. It's another week, another disgraceful performance by the New York Jets, and I got a lot to say about this team.
This Spread Coming In Was A Headscratcher
I want to start with a question, Why the hell were the Jets 4-point favorites in this game? Say what you want about the Colts, but this Jets team should be nowhere near favorites until they have proven it. Yes, they beat the Texans, but that team is a bunch of frauds who had no receivers or offensive line to help C.J. Stroud in that game. Did they not see how badly the Jets performed against the Cardinals, and the Jets had extra time to prepare for this game? I bet the Colts in this game and I called it free money.
The Offense Was Awful
Where to begin with this offense? There were so many notable issues. Just look at the first quarter and the entire first half, excluding the last drive. There were so many 3-and-outs with this offense, that it looked like the Jets were not going to get a first down in the half. This is with Aaron Rodgers as the Quarterback, by the way.
Speaking of Rodgers, I hate to say it, but he's done. What the hell was he doing during that final drive? He made some ugly throws in this game, and tried to lateral the ball 2 times at the end of the game. I respect what the guy did in the NFL, but it's clear this saga with him is going nowhere.
Who knows if he comes back next season, and to be honest, I don't know if I want him back next season. Fans say that say they want him back, are due to the reasoning of, wanting Rodgers to mentor the rookie QB that the team should draft in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. Here is the problem with that reasoning; wasn't Rodgers originally supposed to mentor Zach Wilson when he got brought into the Jets? What happened there? Oh right, Zach Wilson sucked, and is now a 3rd string QB with the Denver Broncos. It is best to move on from Rodgers and get a new QB.
The running game was solid, and Breece Hall looked good today. However, what the heck are they doing with Braelon Allen? The dude one carried the ball 2 times in this unacceptable game. Especially when the Jets tried to do a stupid trickery type play, and have Tyler Conklin try to rush for the first down.
Davante Adams actually showed up for once, and looked solid, if you ignore Rodgers missing him multiple times on his throws. Adams looked angry too, because of the missed opportunities, and it reminded me of Adams raging at Garoppollo in that game against the Lions in 2023.
Garrett Wilson had a quiet game, and Malachi Corley stinks. What a great move it was to use a third-round pick on a player Joe Douglas had as his fourth-ranked receiver in last year's draft. Speaking of another genius third-round pick this franchise wasted on a player, how about Jeremy Ruckert? This guy is horrendous on the field. He had that brutal drop in the first quarter that almost resulted in the Colts getting a defensive touchdown.
Well, The Defense Was Lackluster
Gosh, this defense was really lackluster. There were some great moments in this game from the Williams brothers (Quincey and Quinnen). The run defense looked more competent than usual, if you ignore Richardson running all over this team in the red zone.
The secondary has been a complete mess, blowing coverage all game. At least Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner tackled well in this game, but it would be nice if he covered offensive players like he did as a rookie. So many times Gardner missed his assignment, and it's disappointing to see how much he declined.
I swear this defense made Anthony Richardson look like Andrew Luck at times. That is hard to do with how raw Richardson still is as a quarterback. Haason Reddick got hurt in this game, and the Jets had to rely on Michael Clemons to provide pressure, which didn't work out. Clemons is another player who is getting on my nerves with how bad he has been playing lately.
The Kicker Looked Solid At Least
The Jets came into this game with their 4th kicker this season, which should have never happened. Especially with the team forgetting to sign Spencer Shrader to the 53-man roster, he immediately left to go with the Chiefs. As a result, the Jets had to sign Anders Carlson to the practice squad, and he looked solid in this game making all of his kicks. Carlson even kicked a career-long 58-yard field goal, which was super impressive. While there is a ton of bad that happened, at least Carlson played well
Goodbye Joe Douglas
Joe Douglas better have his resume updated and his job search prepared, because he is fired at the end of the season. Douglas has contributed to how the Jets have looked in Year 6 of his tenure. He needed the playoffs to make it, and it's obvious that he's not the GM to take this team to the next level. I've been out on him since the moment he decided to bring a past-his-prime Duane Brown as the blindside blocker.
By the way, I've seen so many people defending Joe Douglas, and I have to call out these guys. Especially those that claim " He Only had 1 shot to pick a head coach. Give him more time. The guy can find talent." ITS YEAR 6!!! He's had 6 years to find talent and they've never had an over .500 record. What are you talking about? He needs more time? Enough of the excuses. He can find talent; he drafted Zach Wilson with the 2nd Overall Pick. Excluding the 2022 NFL Draft, most of his picks have missed more than hit. Look at the 2020 NFL Draft, the only one on the roster today is Ashtyn Davis who stinks.
I feel bad for Joe Douglas, as he comes across as a nice guy, but he has run out of excuses, and its time that a change is made.
Jeff Ulbrich Said What???
I'm not going to get into the coaching in-game because it's abysmal and Ulbrich is not qualified for the head coach. However, I watched the post-game press conference and I was enraged with what he said. The Jets next week are on a bye week and Ulbrich straight up says the below.
The key quote is “It’s a good time for a bye.” Good time for a bye? Is this guy kidding me? It's time for a Goodbye for the season, because every week it just gets worse and worse for this franchise. I can't believe that he said that, and it again showcases why this team is an incompetent franchise. I wonder if he said that because it will be a great time for the coaching staff and Joe Douglas to update resumes and prepare to apply for new jobs.
Its Time To Consider Blowing Up The Entire New York Jets Team
I mean, what is there really to say about this team anymore? This season has been long gone for a month now, and to be honest, there needs to be real discussions about blowing the entire team up. I'm dead serious, because this team is not winning with this core. They are certainly not going to win with Aaron Rodgers as the QB. Every coach needs to go, and Joe Douglas needs to be fired at the end of the season. Even Nathanial Hackett, and if Rodgers doesn't like that, tough. This has been the 2nd biggest failure in New York Sports history. The first is the Brooklyn Nets with James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving on the same team.
Do I trust this team to make the right choice? Absolutely not. As long as Woody Johnson owns this team, I can't trust them. Now Christopher Johnson is going to take the lead running the team, with Woody getting his new government job. Great. The same guy who hired Adam Headgase instead of Mike McCarthy and Dan Campbell, is coming back to run the franchise. It's just a shame, with all the hype this team got, that yet again, the fanbase is talking about the season being over by Thanksgiving.
