The Eagles on Sunday served notice to everyone that they are continuing to play their best football at exactly the right time in this 2022 regular season. After three exchanges of possessions in an NFC East game against the New York Giants, the Eagles led by three touchdowns on the way to a 48-22 win to improve their record to 12-1 and clinch a playoff spot.

Philadelphia Eagles are in the playoffs!
After defeating the New York Giants and boosting their win total to 12 through Week 14 of the season, Philly has claimed their rightful spot in the playoffs for a second straight season.
The goals, of course, are much higher than simply making the postseason. Philadelphia has a two-game lead in the NFC over both Dallas and Minnesota, who are both 10-3.

Philadelphia Eagles certainly brought it on Sunday to defeat the Giants, opening with a barrage in the first quarter-plus to go up by three touchdowns. It was awesome all the way through, particularly in those first 22 minutes when the Eagles did everything right.

Everybody knows that it’s hard to be a playoff team and in the fashion in which we did it is even crazier and even harder. Personally, man, I’m excited. Like Head Coach Nick Sirianni always says, the next game is the most important one, it’s a mentality that’s been instilled throughout the locker room.
But, in order to have a better slate in the playoffs, the Eagles need to win their division.
Lucky for them, if they remain steady on the trajectory they’ve followed all season, they’ll handily close the door on the regular season ahead of the Cowboys (9-3), Commanders (7-5-1), and Giants (7-5-1).
The Cowboys are their closest competitor in the NFC East, but after beating the Houston Texans, they trail by two game and the Eagles currently have the tiebreaker from their early-season matchup with four to go. Plus, the Cowboys still have the Jaguars on deck before hosting Philadelphia on Christmas Eve.
Here’s what has to happen for Philadelphia Eagles to earn the #1 seed:
Finishing with the best record in the conference means earning home-field advantage AND the only first-round bye. The Eagles are the most likely candidate for the spot as it stands, especially after the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Vikings trail by two games.
An early-season win could come into play if the Eagles and Vikings end the regular season with the same record. Since Philadelphia beat Minnesota in Week 2, the Eagles have the tiebreaker.
If the Eagles win their next two games, at Chicago and at Dallas – they will clinch the NFC East AND the No. 1 seed.
