Top Cornerback Out Of Georgia Commits To Auburn
AUBURN - Hugh Freeze and his team landed a commitment from four-star cornerback Devin Williams for the Tigers, choosing them over programs like Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Tennessee.
Williams, who hails from Buford, Georgia, is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds. He is ranked as the 14th-best cornerback in the class, the 18th overall recruit in Georgia, and the 113th nationally ranked recruit. Williams is one of the fastest corners in this year's class, having run a blazing 10.65 seconds in the 100-meter and 21.43 seconds in the 200-meter.
Williams And Auburn
In January, Williams visited Auburn and returned a few weeks later. The primary recruiters in his recruitment were Auburn's cornerbacks' coach, Wesley McGriff, co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach, and defensive coordinator DJ Durkin.
Williams had scheduled visits to Notre Dame and Texas A&M, but he ultimately felt that Auburn was the right fit for him. Auburn has been pursuing Williams for over a year, offering him in January 2023. A significant factor in his decision was his relationship with Wesley McGriff.
Devin Williams is Auburn's ninth commitment and the first defensive back commit for the 2025 cycle, which has moved Auburn's class from ninth to seventh place in the On3 rankings as they're in the race for one of the top classes in the 2025 cycle.
