Bears Kick Off Offseason With Major Hire At Offensive Coordinator
CHICAGO - It appears that the Chicago Bears have found a new offensive coordinator. According to Tom Pelissero, the team is finalizing a deal with former Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to take over the position.
Waldron spent the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks helping quarterback Geno Smith have the best season of his career.
This hiring decision was made after Luke Getsy was relieved of his offensive coordinator role in early January.
This hiring may also shine some light on what the Bears will do with the first overall pick.
Caleb Williams announced on January 15th that he would be entering the NFL Draft. Williams' has started working with the QuarterBack Collective in preparation for the draft. The quarterback collective is a group of coaches who help develop young quarterbacks.
The staff is headlined by names like Mike Shanahan, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, Matt LaFleur, Mike McDaniels, and Shane Waldron. So Caleb Williams will be training through the company that Shane Waldron is on the staff for? Interesting.
Could this give us a look into what the Bears will do with the first overall pick? It certainly doesn't negate the chances that the Bears draft Caleb Williams at one.
