Bills quarterback, Josh Allen Selected To Play In The Match

Josh Allen Set To Take On Top QBs

Bills quarterback, Josh Allen was one of the four selected quarterbacks set to play in The Match by Capital One on June 1st at 6:30 pm EST. The Match is an exhibition match play Golf competition that has featured several athletes and star golfers. The Match began in 2018 when Golf’s most legendary modern-day rivalry of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson played for a $9 Million purse. Mickelson won after four playoff holes.

Since Woods and Mickelson, the Match has only been played one other time with strictly golfers. Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau played in the Match while they had an ongoing feud. Koepka won the Match, and DeChambeau won the longest drive and nearest to the pin for charity.

The Match has featured several athletes in the past, two of which will be returning to this year’s edition. Tom Brady has participated in The Match twice, while Aaron Rodgers has just once. Although Brady brings experience to The Match, he has lost in both appearances, one of which came against his new partner Aaron Rodgers. Other athletes to play The Match include Peyton Manning (2x), Steph Curry, and Charles Barkley.

Josh Allen The Golfer

Josh Allen has been an avid golfer since entering the league. He went to show his appreciation for golf by dressing up as Phil Mickelson this past Halloween when the Bills took on the Miami Dolphins this past Halloween. Mickelson even spoke to the Buffalo Bills team earlier last season, and Josh Allen credits Mickelson with helping him learn how to play through his frustration.

I asked Josh Allen about the significance of beating the Dolphins for the 7th consecutive time – he opened up about the Bills finding a way to win. He added how Phil Mickelson helped him find his "zen/his inner peace" while playing pissed off and frustrated. @WGRZ pic.twitter.com/bBiwPYqMvD — Ashly Holder (@AshNoelleTV) October 31, 2021

Instead of attending the Pro-Bowl this season, Allen opted to compete in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Gold Tournament. Allen paired up with Keith Mitchell, a PGA golfer, and the pairing missed the cut after three rounds finishing -15.

Allen also attended the most recent Masters tournament with his good friend and fellow NFL quarterback Sam Darnold. They were spotted following Tiger Woods as Woods made his well-documented return to golf after his car accident in early 2021.

Advantage Who?

Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes will be teaming up to play Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers in The Match. Patrick Mahomes seems to be confident about himself and Allen as a duo on the golf course.

Allen and Mahomes seem to be confident that they can hit the ball not just far but much further than Brady and Rodgers can. While there may be some possible conversations about who can throw the Brady and Rodgers can. While there may be some possible conversations about who can throw the football the furthest during The Match, we will only likely see who can hit further with the Driver. It is hard to predict a winner given the lack of information about these players’ golf games but the banter and conversations should make The Match must-watch television for all NFL and Buffalo Bills fans.
