Brandin Cooks Struggling To Maintain Fantasy Relevance

Updated: Aug 2

Brandin Cooks has had a very underrated NFL Career. While Cooks has shown notable signs of decline, he still puts up respectable stats. Last year, he was targeted 81 times and made 54 receptions for 657 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Cooks is in a solid spot in Dallas as the number 2 receiver, but a big problem with him is his lack of consistency. One week, he puts up solid numbers, but then there are other weeks when he is a nonfactor in games.

Another issue with Cooks is that he only played one game all season (he didn't miss a single game in 2023), and he finished higher than WR17. He had four or fewer targets in eight games last season, which can ruin your week.

Plus, with the Cowboys' offense surrounded by talent, Cooks can't be fully trusted unless injuries derail the team. However, the Cowboys' schedule is one of the best for wide receivers in fantasy football. Taking Cooks in the later rounds of the NFL draft is the smart play.

His ADP on Sleeper is 13.05, so if we are in a redraft league, he is likely one of your last picks. There is not much sunken cost in that pick; Cooks are easily droppable and could help early in the season.

Our consensus projections for Cooks in the 2024 season would be: 52 receptions, 665 yards, 5 touchdowns.
