Breaking: A Major New York Giants Player Is Expected To Retire From The Team This Week

Last offseason, the New York Giants upgraded their receiving core by trading for Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller, thinking he would majorly impact the team. However, the tight end only appeared in 12 games, recording 552 receiving yards and one score.

Sadly for the Giants, it seems like they will only get a season from Waller because, on Monday morning, news dropped from Jordan Raanan from ESPN, which states, "Darren Waller is expected to make a decision by next week’s minicamp on his playing future and people in and around the team expect he’s going to retire, multiple sources told. Would be a pleasant surprise if he decided otherwise. "

When the Giants acquired Waller last season, they weren't expecting him to play for one year and then walk off into the sunset. The Giants are heading into a make-or-break season with current quarterback Daniel Jones, who could be seeing his last days in Blue & White if things don't turn around, and even head coach Brian Daboll could be looking for a new job if things go poorly for the team again as they did last season.

The Giants already lost their best-skill position player this offseason, running back Saquon Barkley, to their divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, and they are soon to lose another key veteran in Waller.

It will likely be another awful season in New York again, but hopefully, some of the young players will step up and show fans they can have a bright future.
