Brian Robinson Jr Finds More Competition For Fantasy Value
In Brian Robinson Jr’s two seasons in the NFL, he hasn’t shown to be a running back with a super high ceiling but instead a more consistent power back. In 2023, he was given 178 carries, which he turned into 733 yards (4.1 average). He also managed to run into the end zone five times. Robinson also added some good work in the receiving game, having 36 receptions for 368 yards and four TDs.
In 2023, Robinson shared the backfield with Antonio Gibson, who is no longer part of the commanders. However, this season, he will be competing against Austin Ekeler. Even though Ekeler had a major fallback season last year, he previously put up elite numbers on both the ground and in the receiving game.
If Ekeler can even somewhat return to form this season, Robinson could receive fewer touches and not be utilized as often within the red zone. Robinson has also had issues fumbling the ball, having had 6 over his two seasons. If he continues this, the offense may not trust him as much, leaving him to play less time.
The Commanders do have rookie QB Jayden Daniels, who could lead the team to run the ball more often in his rookie season. Robinson should serve as a solid RB3 in 2024 but could easily find himself in a sticky situation later on in the season.
Our consensus projections for Robinson in the 2024 season are 178 carries for 789 yards and 9 touchdowns. In the receiving game, his consensus projection is 30 receptions for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns.
