Buffalo Bills Sign Stefon Diggs To Massive Contract Extension
Early this morning, the Buffalo Bills and Stefon Diggs agreed to a four-year $96 million extension with $70 Million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
$70 Million Guaranteed is the second-most in NFL history for a wide receiver. The first is Tyreek Hill, who just signed a massive extension for the Miami Dolphins. Diggs now has the fourth-highest AAV (average annual value) at $24 million per year, slotting him behind Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, and DeAndre Hopkins.

This contract will keep Diggs in Buffalo for six more years, where he will earn a total of $124.1 Million. Schefter also reported that the deal reflects that both sides want Diggs to end his career as a Buffalo Bill. The extension ties Diggs to Buffalo until 2027 and nearly Josh Allen’s entire contract extension until 2028. Diggs and Allen’s relationship has been reported thoroughly throughout the previous two seasons. With this extension, they will remain teammates over the next half-decade.
I spoke about the extension in the State of the Bills and predicted that this deal would get done before this season. Beane transformed the Bills franchise when he made the trade for Diggs, proving that the Bills were ready to win with Josh Allen and were not afraid to make the moves. The extension was about more than just keeping a good player. It was about keeping your star quarterback and team happy.
This extension continues one heck of an offseason for Brandon Beane and the Bills’ front office. They have managed to sign one of the premier pass rushers in the league and lock up their best offensive skill player.
It would be naive to think that this may not mean that the Bills cannot resign some of their upcoming extension candidates. With big money going to guys like Allen, Diggs, and Von Miller, the Bills will have tough choices coming up with big-name players such as Jordan Poyer, Tremaine Edmunds, and Dawson Knox. All of whom are free agents in 2023.
