Can Russell Wilson Cook Again For Fantasy Managers?

In Russell Wilson’s second season with the Broncos, he may not have done well from an NFL standpoint but still managed to finish at QB 14, even with missing the last two weeks of the season. Wilson didn't finish outside the top 24 quarterbacks and added three top-7 finishes.

Other than Weeks 2, 3, and 11, Wilson failed to register over 250 passing yards. This is why he didn't meet Denver’s expectations; Wilson was cut and later picked up by the Steelers.

Moving to the Steelers may be a good move for Wilson’s career to rebound, as they are a better team and have legendary coach Mike Tomlin. Wilson’s primary weapons will be WR George Pickens, TE Pat Frieirmuth, and a nice backfield duo of Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.

The Steelers also have a young WR room, and there is a chance for any of them to step up this season. It is a solid team that helps support the veteran QB; however, his job is not fully secured.

In the offseason, the Steelers also traded for young QB Justin Fields. If Wilson struggles to produce wins, there is a solid chance that Fields is given the starting job. Due to this, in 1 QB league, Wilson should be a solid backup for the time being. In 2 QB leagues, Wilson should be avoided as your QB 2, as it will probably be a better choice to draft someone with a more secure starting role.

Our consensus projections for Wilson in the 2024 season would be: 329 completions, 3452 yards, 23 touchdowns, 11 interceptions through the air, and 59 carries for 265 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns.
