Wild Weather, Barion Brown, and a stout defense perfectly describe the opening to the Kentucky Wildcats season. After a long rain delay, the Cats came out flat as QB Brock Vandergriff through an interception on his first drive. This didn't stop the party, as two plays later Jamon Dumas-Johnson picked off Tate Rodemaker keeping the momentum in the Cat's favor.

On the following drive, Vandergriff found speedster Barion Brown for a Touchdown and opened the scoring in Lexington. The Defense got right back to causing havoc as JQ Hardaway picked off Rodemaker again, backed up against his own goal line. The Cats took off from there scoring twice in the second quarter, once by running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, and Barion Brown for his second of the night.

The Cats went into halftime up 24-0 looking to finish strong. In the Second Half, Vandergriff connected with Tight End Jordan Dingle for his 3rd passing TD of the night. Following this, there was another weather delay resulting in the conclusion of the game.

Overall, after a slow start, the Cats looked good. The Defense was a wall and made life difficult on USM's offense. Offensively Vandergriff threw for 169 yards and 3 scores while adding 35 yards on the ground. He was able to work through his progressions and find his talented receivers.

Ahead of the Cats is a dynamic and unpredictable opponent in South Carolina, who squeaked by Old Dominion in week 1. LaNorris Sellers is a freshman and could burst onto the scene at any time. The important piece is to stop running back Rahiem Sanders who is a former All-SEC player and can make you miss and be gone in a blink of an eye.

The Defense is fast and scary from the initial look of it, and if they can slow down Sanders and Sellers this should be an easy game for the Cats. It is the SEC, so anything can happen, but with the Talent on the UK side, they should go into the biggest game of the season next week 2-0.
