Chicago Bears Place Intriguing Receiver On PUP List

The Chicago Bears have placed three-year NFL veteran Chase Claypool on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

Claypool is entering his second season with the Bears and will be unable to practice while on the PUP.

How Does The PUP List Work?

Players who are designated physically unable to perform at the beginning of training camp are still eligible to attend team meetings and workouts. However, players need to be medically cleared to return to on-field action.

Personnel on the PUP list does count against the 90-man pre-season roster limits.

Claypool's Career Stats

Claypool caught the attention of NFL fans with 873 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his rookie campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In his second NFL season, the Canadian caught 59 passes for 860 yards but only found the end zone twice.

Claypool played eight games for the Steelers last season before getting traded to the Bears. He averaged only 20 yards per game and failed to score a touchdown in seven appearances with Chicago.

2023 Is A Big Year For The Chicago Bears

The 2023 NFL season is massive for the Chicago Bears. They've done all they can to put a competitive roster around quarterback Justin Fields, including adding DJ Moore to the receiver corp.

Chicago's season win total is set at 7.5. They're currently at +380 to win the NFC North, behind the odds-on favorite Detroit Lions (+130) and the defending champion Minnesota Vikings (+380).

The Bears are +5000 to be the Super Bowl champions and Justin Fields has +2200 odds to win the league's most valuable player award.
