Is This Big Name Buffalo Player On The Move?

As rumors continue to swirl online about Gabe Davis, Bills Mafia continue to wonder; what's next for the Bills young WR?

Davis is on the final year of his contract with the Bills after getting drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He has had big moments throughout his career, most notably his 201 yard, 4 TD game against the Chiefs in the Divisional round of the Playoffs last season. Despite his big games, Davis hasn't been a consistent playmaker for this offense so far in his career.

With the NFL Trade Deadline quickly approaching October 31st, could the Bills look to move on from Davis? Looking at the final year of his contract, Gabe will probably be looking to sign a $11m+/year contract extension. He could be a very serviceable third option that stretches the field for deep balls, however, his inconsistency and dropped passes issues could concern the Bills enough to not want to commit to such a large contract.

The Bills Need A Difference Maker

The Bills need a consistent second option on the offense beside Diggs to keep this offense potent and strike some life back into the team. Could they look at outside teams for trade options before the deadlines? Buffalo could look to move Davis for a late day 2 pick this season or they could package him with a pick for a proven commodity. My favorite option for the team would be the Raiders. If they can send Las Vegas a day 2 pick along with Davis for Davante Adams, you have to imagine they would accept it in a heartbeat for an attempt to make a run at a Super Bowl this season.

Adams has been public about his frustration with his usage and his team's inability to win games. He could look to be moved to a real contender. A trade with the Raiders would need to come with an agreement for Vegas to eat some of Davante Adams cap hit. However, a trade with the Titans for DeAndre Hopkins could work perfectly. Hopkins is signed through 2024 on a reasonable deal and the Bills showed real interest in him during free agency last season.

Buffalo needs to spark their offense if they want to make a run into the Playoffs for an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl. The Bills should be buyers at the deadline to fill some holes in their roster. Another playmaker on this team could be a huge asset for Josh Allen and Ken Dorsey to keep themselves in the conversation for Super Bowl contention.
