Could The Yankees Get A Big Boost As They Head To Baltimore?
The American League leading Baltimore Orioles are set to face the New York Yankees for a three-game series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards beginning Friday July 28th. The Yankees will come into town as the last place team in the AL East despite sitting at six games over .500. New York is hopeful they could be getting their biggest star back in the lineup.
Aaron Judge who has not played since early June due to a toe injury might be back this weekend. "He's back in New York,'' said manager Aaron Boone. He also added that Judge's status would be evaluated Thursday, which is a team off day before Friday's series opener.
Aaron Judge was unstoppable last year as the Yankees made it all the way to the American League Championship Series. He finished the season with a team record and Major League leading 62 home runs, while scoring 133 runs and 131 RBIs en route to the AL MVP award. This year, he is batting .291 with 19 home runs in 49 games.
Getting Judge back could be exactly what the Yankees need in a very competitive AL East this year. All five teams are above .500 making the wild card playoff push extremely crowded as well. The Orioles lead the division with a 62-40 record, but have the Tampa Bay Rays just behind them. The Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, and the Yankees are all within three games of one another making every series from here on out extremely important.
As the Orioles and Yankees series is set to begin, Baltimore is looking to bounce back from a series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies this week. Meanwhile, the Yankees split their two game series against the New York Mets.
