Cowboys Sign Veteran Fullback Ryan Nall
The Cowboys signed former Chicago Bears fullback Ryan Nall to a one year contract according to agent Sam Leaf. The contract is most likely a veteran minimum type of deal. Nall is no household name in the NFL. That being said, it feels important to talk about who he is and why this signing matters.
Who Is Ryan Nall?

Weight-240 pounds
College- Oregon State, undrafted free agent in 2018
Ryan Nall joined the Bears as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Oregon State. In his first year with the Bears, he spent the season on the practice squad. The next year in 2019 he did the same but later on that season appeared in eight games. Finally in 2020 he got to play in all 16 games and this year nine games. In 2020 he recorded eight receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. But overall 65 percent of his snaps have been contributing on special teams.
What Could Nall Bring To The Cowboys?
Besides being a special team contributor, Nall’s other snaps were at fullback. This will be beneficial for running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Give them an extra blocker and free up some space for some extra yards. However, he hasn’t carried the ball as a fullback. This doesn’t mean he can’t be a factor in the passing game or run game. In fact, his physical run style could be beneficial to spread out the offense if the Cowboys were to go that route.
Lastly, the fullback position isn’t necessarily going to automatically be his to have. As of now, the Cowboys have Nick Ralston and Sewo Oloniluawho is coming back from a season ending neck injury. Nall joins the team with the most experience at the position which he could use to his advantage and earn the spot. It’s only early April, a little ways from training camp. Overall, it’s a free agent signing move that brings competition and hopefully benefits the Cowboys this upcoming season.
