D’Andre Swift Shades Cowboys With First Philly Interview Of 2023

Updated: Jun 28, 2023

Most NFL fans know that the rivalry between the Cowboys and Eagles goes way back. The rivalry also wastes no time in making players instantly hate the teams in the division. The Eagles acquired Lions star running back D’Andre Swift during the NFL Draft.

Philly got Swift and Detroit got a return of a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2023 seventh-round pick. As I said already, this rivalry turns players quickly and D’Andre Swift apparently wasted no time shading Dallas. Let’s check it out, shall we?

D’Andre Swift Chooses Rare Jersey Number

In his first press conference in Philly, Swift was asked what jersey he would wear. He will now be wearing the rare #0 after wearing the #32 his entire career. Swift will be one of three reported players to wear the newly approved #0 jersey and the first Eagles player to ever dawn #0.

The #0 and #00 have not been approved numbers since before the 1973 NFL season. The NFL voted and approved a change to the jersey policy allowing any player except offensive and defensive linemen to sport the No. 0 on their back and chest.

Swift Throws Shade With Number Choice

When asked why he chose the number zero, Swift allegedly said it was a reference to the fact that Dallas has never won an NFC championship in his lifetime. That’s some tough shade to throw for a running back who hasn’t played a single snap as an Eagle yet. D’Andre Swift has also been a part of some elite Lions teams in his three years in the NFL. Elite Lions teams such as the 3-13 team from 2021 or the 5-11 team from his rookie season.

Swift now joins the defending NFC champs because he got replaced in Detroit. Swift also has a whopping ZERO NFC titles in his career but sure he earns the right to talk trash now that he joins them. The only reason Swift made sense in Philly is because they lost Miles Sanders to free agency.

Final Thoughts

Before I go even further down the rabbit hole, it is time to wrap this up. D’Andre Swift is a solid running back, let’s not get it twisted. However, he has ZERO room to start throwing shade at this level.

But then again, I am sitting on my couch writing about it so what does it matter what I think right? Good luck in Philly Mr. Swift, if you actually said that about why you chose your new number, Dallas fans are going to be happy to see you next season.
