Dak Prescott Repeats Career Best Fantasy Year In 2024?
Prescott is coming off the 2023 season, where he was in MVP conversation for the majority of the year, which had him finish as QB 3 overall in fantasy football. In the last season, Dak had 4,516 passing yards (3rd highest), 36 passing TDs (league highest), and only 9 interceptions. His stellar fantasy year came after a 2022 season where he had a career-high in interceptions and one of the lowest numbers for passing yards he has had so far.
In the 2024 offseason, the Cowboys did not make many changes on the offensive side of the ball. The only fantasy-relevant changes were the departure of running back Tony Pollard and their reunion with RB Ezekiel Elliot. Dallas’ lack of a solidified backfield could well again force Dak to pass the ball as often as he did last season (590 attempts, which was 4th highest).
We all know Prescott has one of the most elite weapons in Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb. Still, besides that, Wide Receiver Brandin Cooks and Tight End Jake Ferguson are really his only other serviceable options. This should not cause much worry as it is the same situation he was in last year and could well again have similar production if Lamb stays healthy. As far as Prescott’s future with the Cowboys is concerned, there is some uncertainty. Even after a terrific regular season, his lack of playoff wins throughout his career has delayed Dallas from giving him a contract extension.
If he does not resign with Dallas, it is still hard to see a world where he is not starting in the 2025 season as well. Dak will still more than likely fall in redraft boards due to the hate that he has received for most of his career. However, if you fall under the category of disliking him, you should put your feelings aside, as he will more than likely finish as a top 12 QB with the upside to finish as a top 5 once again.
Our consensus projections for Prescott in the 2024 season would be: 432 completions, 4784 yards, 33 touchdowns, 11 interceptions through the air, and 49 carries for 235 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns.
