Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft 2.0
With the NFL Combine over, college pro days give scouts and GMs a last look at prospects before the draft. That being said, it’s time for a post combine mock draft. Now, let’s break down the Cowboys’ day one and two draft picks. So here are three potential prospects I believe could start and make an impact in week one for our Dallas Cowboys.
Round One, Pick 24–Treylon Burks WR 6’2”, 225, Arkansas
With the recent trade of receiver Amari Cooper to the Browns, the Cowboys are in the market for a wide receiver. That need can be potentially filled with drafting Arkansas receiver Treylon Burks. Burks brings size and body control at 6’2” over 200 pounds to be a potential mismatch against cornerbacks. Utilizing his size to grab the 50/50 ball due to his aggressive mentality as a receiver to his position himself for the tough catch.
His combine numbers at the NFL combine in Indianapolis may have been below average running a sub 4.6 forty-yard dash and a 33 inch vertical etc. Nonetheless that doesn’t show the type of prospect that Burks potentially could be. Burks has shown to be a receiver when open or left a bit of separation after the catch to be a physical runner, a receiver who is difficult to take down and will give a strong stiff arm to gain separation and the extra yards. At the 24th pick, Treylon will bring value and a new look for the young Cowboys receiving core.

Round Two, Pick 56-Ed Ingram G 6’3”, 307, LSU
This year Connor Williams did improve as a guard but was second in the NFL for penalties (15). Some of those penalties lead to big plays going back too often. That being said, the Cowboys could look into an upgrade and change at the left guard position. Due to Williams being a free agent and may be out of the Cowboy’s asking price for a return.
In the second round the Cowboys could fill the need at guard drafting LSU guard Ed Ingram. Ingram brings power as a run-blocking mauler moving a defensive lineman off the line of scrimmage. He is also an effective pulling guard due to athleticism and awareness. In a zone run scheme Ingram brings good lateral movement and in the pass sets has the ability to adjust to stunts and blitzes. Ingram brings 1st round traits but due to his off the field issues in 2018, where he sat out the season, his stock will fall to the second round and it would be a steal for the Cowboys at pick fifty six.

Round Three, Pick 88-Channing Tindall LB 6’2”, 230, Georgia
In the third round, this pick would fill a need at inside linebacker. By drafting Georgia linebacker Channing Tindall who was an underrated piece to the 2021 Georgia Bulldog defense. Tindall is underrated thanks to his many talented teammates such as linebackers Nakobe Dean, Quay Walker, defensive lineman Jordan Davis, Trevon Walker, and others. I had Tindall under the radar as a linebacker but Tindall had a great showing at the combine. Tindall put together a sub 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, 42-inch vertical, and 129 broad jump showing his true explosiveness as a prospect.
Tindall at Georgia showed he was a dependable and competitive linebacker no matter the role he had. As a linebacker Tindall has become a decisive linebacker breaking down reads in an offense to make a play and tackles well in open space. He may lack the desired size for the Cowboys scheme but his strength allows him to disengage from blockers. Nonetheless, with the right type of coaching he will get better at shedding blockers .
Tindall’s true bread and butter is being a sideline to sideline linebacker demonstrating good lateral movement to one side of the ball to the next to pursue the ball-carrier. Having a player like Tindall will help disrupt the passing game in coverage ,decipher and stop run plays. Having a player of Tindall’s caliber will definitely be a steal at pick 88.
