Dallas Cowboys Sign Pro Bowl Offensive Weapon
The Dallas Cowboys shocked many this offseason by signing running back Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott spent seven seasons with the team before joining the New England Patriots last season.
Dallas saw last year's starting running back, Tony Pollard, leave this offseason for the Tennessee Titans. The team needed to find another running back to go with Elliott and Rico Dowdle, and on Wednesday, they brought in a new option.
According to Todd Archer from ESPN, veteran running back Dalvin Cook is signing up with the club's practice squad.
Cook visited Dallas earlier this week, and the organization must have loved what they saw.
Cook started his career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017 and was named to four Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2022, but last offseason, he was released from the team and signed with the New York Jets.
The 29-year-old running back could have had a better time in the Big Apple, only running for 214 yards in 15 games.
Cook would not make it through the entire season in New York and was cut from the team in the last few weeks. Then went on to sign with the Baltimore Ravens for a postseason run.
Dallas now has two running backs, Elliott and Cook, who were the best in the NFL five years ago. The only issue is that it's not 2019 anymore.
Don't expect Cook to impact the Cowboy's offense, and if they get anything out of him, then it's a bonus they were never going to rely on.
