Darius Slayton Has Competition For Fantasy Role On The Giants

Darius Slayton had a very weird 2023/24 NFL season. At the beginning of the year, Slayton was super inconsistent and really struggled. However, in the second half of the season, Slayton put up stronger numbers and finished the year with 79 targets, 50 catches, 770 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

In Weeks 1-10, Slayton was not very productive for fantasy, but from Weeks 11-18, Slayton averaged 13.04 fantasy points with three WR2 or higher finishes. Slayton has consistently been a big play threat, and last year, the Giants had neither the line nor QB play to be able to support that.

While the Giants did draft Malik Nabers, this really benefits Slayton, who benefits much more being a number 2 or 3 receiver, and he is likely going to get much softer coverage. However, he will face competition from Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, Isaiah Hodgins, Allen Robinson, etc.

Plus, there is still uncertainty at the quarterback position, whether Daniel Jones can stay healthy or is the long-term franchise quarterback. This is a bit of a risky pick now, but as a late-round selection, Slayton could put up a solid number of points if the Giants' offense can get its act together.

Our consensus projections for Slayton in the 2024 season are 38 receptions, 552 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
