Dark-Horse Contenders For Offensive Rookie Of The Year

Today marks the start of rookie minicamp for all 32 NFL teams. This is the first opportunity to see the rookies in their new uniforms. The current betting favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award is Caleb Williams at +170, with Jayden Daniels following at +600, Marvin Harrison Jr. at +700, J.J. McCarthy at +1400, and Malik Nabers at +1400, per FanDuel Sports. However, some other rookies are overlooked and could be dark-horse contenders for the award. Let's take a closer look at these players.

Keon Coleman, WR, Buffalo Bills +2500

Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis are now playing for different teams, so Keon Coleman will have the chance to shine immediately. The rookie wide receiver will have the advantage of playing with one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Josh Allen, who will put him in the best position to succeed. With his 6'3, 213 frame, Coleman will be a valuable asset as a jump ball weapon in the red zone, leading to multiple touchdowns.

Brock Bowers, TE, Las Vegas Raiders +4000

Yes, he plays for the Raiders team, which has some quarterback worries, but Bowers's talent is too good to be overlooked. He is a difficult player for defenses to defend as he is too fast for linebackers and too big for defensive backs. Given his talent, it's worth considering placing a small bet on him at +4000 odds.

Roman Wilson, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers +7500

I wanted to include one long-shot pick, and Roman Wilson was the name I landed on. Wilson is headed to a Steelers roster that doesn't have much production outside George Pickens in the wide receiver room. I also think we haven't seen what Roman Wilson can fully become as a wide receiver playing in an offense that Michigan was predicated on the running game. In the small sample size, we saw his quick burst out of his breaks and consistent hands, only dropping one pass on 48 receptions.
