Deebo Samuel Has A Grown Ass Man Fantasy Season In 2024
Deebo Samuel Sr. played just 13 games last season with more than a 35% snap share and still managed to finish WR12 in half-ppr formats. Christian McCaffrey finished last season 1st in rushing yards, 2nd in rushing attempts, and 2nd in rushing touchdowns amongst running backs, yet Deebo still racked up 37 rushing attempts for 225 yards and five touchdowns.
Deebo’s rushing ability added 52.5 points on the season. Without those rushing numbers, Deebo would have finished as WR35 last year in half-ppr formats. Deebo will turn 29 in January, and we have seen his rushing attempts drop each season for the past three years, so this trend will likely continue. Deebo has also missed at least 1 game every year of his career. With San Francisco aspiring to make it back to the Super Bowl this year, they will likely be cautious with their superstar players and make sure they are healthy for the playoffs.
Deebo was a very consistent contributor to fantasy teams when he was healthy. In his 13 games played, he had eight weeks where he was the WR14 or better and another three weeks inside WR36, and This means he had just two games when healthy where he hurt your fantasy team. Deebo is just too hard to bring down to not post efficient numbers.
His average depth of target ranked 54th of 59 wide receivers with at least 70 targets. Ordinarily, that would be a red flag for a wide receiver, but Deebo has finished with the most yards after catch per reception every season for the last three years. Right now, Deebo Samuel’s ADP is 3.05 overall, and WR16 is off the board. Of the wide receivers being drafted after round 2, Deebo has one of the best chances to finish inside the top six at the position.
Our consensus projections for Samuel in the 2024 season would be: 61 receptions, 846 yards, 6 touchdowns through the air and 40 carries for 252 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns.
