DeMario Douglas Must Carry The Offense For Fantasy Value

DeMario Douglas was a sixth-round addition to the Patriots’ 2023 draft class and almost immediately became one of the team’s best weapons due to limited competition in the receiving room.

Unfortunately for Douglas, the Patriots’ offense hit rock bottom last season. The team averaged 276.2 average yards per game (30th in the league) and only 13.9 points per game (the worst in the league). Even with the bad offense, Douglas managed 5 games with over 10 fantasy points in PPR formats; this isn't great, but they could be used at the flex spot in a pinch when injuries and bye weeks happen.

Douglas himself ran for 561 yards with zero touchdowns. His lack of end zone contact was partly due to QB Mac Jones averaging only 74.9% in on-target throws and 15.9% in bad throws. In addition to poor QB play, Douglas suffered from a concussion midseason and missed several weeks of the season.

The 2024 season will be interesting for New England as they attempt to rebuild with the offseason signings of veteran WR K.J. Osborn and rookies Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker. Douglas has a chance to breakout this season if he can stay healthy but that's the biggest issue at 5'8 192 pounds. Douglas is being taken as the 66th WR in the draft, with a current ADP of 15.10. 

Our consensus projections for Douglas in the 2024 season are 55 receptions, 603 yards, and 3 touchdowns.
