Derrick Henry Could Be Elite For Fantasy Again On The Ravens
Derrick Henry is another big-name running back who changed teams; similar to Saquan, Henry will not have the weight of the whole offense on his shoulders anymore. He joins the Ravens, who have a history of creating productive run schemes, even with fewer players at running back. The Ravens have had over 515 rushing attempts in the last four seasons, even with the switch at OC.
Lamar has averaged 146 carries a season, leaving 369 carries. Theoretically, Henry should take a majority of these carries as Keaton Mitchell is still rehabbing, and Justice Hill is a JAG (just a guy). If Gus Edwards can have a double-digit touchdown season in this offense, Derrick should have no problem reaching 10+ touchdowns. In seasons with 215 or more carries, Henry has had 10+ touchdowns 6/6 times.
Although Henry’s yards per attempt have decreased by a full yard or more since his massive 2020 season at 5.4 a year, this could've been related to the deterioration of the Titans' offensive line or even the team as a whole. Even though they lost Morgan Moses and John Simpson in the off-season, the Ravens look to be much more competent, with many more defenses to worry about.
Henry isn't known for his receiving skills, but in the last two years, he’s averaged 30 receptions. Pairing that with high volume and goal-line usage, Henry has an incredibly high floor. Since 2019 barring injury (2021), Henry has not finished below RB8 overall. Henry has massive appeal in Redraft especially since he is the 27th player off the board according to sleeper ADP, Dynasty he makes sense in win-now team builds but if you are trying to build around youth and having your team grow into its championship window it may be prudent to stay clear.
Our consensus projections for Henry in the 2024 season are 290 carries for 1,321 yards and 15 touchdowns. In the receiving game, his consensus projection is 18 receptions for 179 yards and 2 touchdowns.
