Desmond Ridder Relies On Injury For Fantasy Relevance

In the offseason, Ridder was traded from the Falcons to the Cardinals. In his first two seasons with the Falcons, he showed that he would most likely never be more than a backup in the NFL. He played 19 games in Atlanta, scoring 19 touchdowns and throwing 19 interceptions. A 1:1 TD-to-turnover ratio is not what teams seek to lead them.

In the 2023 season, Desmond Ridder really lacked consistency; in some games, he was great and put up excellent fantasy numbers. However, in other weeks, he made fans wonder why he was a professional QB. Ridder will more than likely be Kyler Murray’s backup in the 2024 season and won’t see the field unless the starter goes down. If this were to happen, Ridder would have rookie Wide Receiver Marvin Harrison Jr and Tight End Trey McBride as his main targets, which could help his case.

Ridder should be avoided in all 1 QB redraft leagues unless Murray suffers a decent injury. Even in that case, Ridder would still be a risky start in your fantasy lineups. In 2QB dynasty leagues, there still is some hope, and it can be held onto for now if your bench has plenty of spots.
