Lessons Learned: How Duke Handled The Big Apple Experience

While Duke's journey this season may have had its share of hurdles with losses to Arizona, Arkansas, and Georgia Tech, their recent victory against Baylor at Madison Square on Wednesday sparked excitement. This triumph was unexpected due to specific reasons such as Baylor's strong performance this season or Duke's previous losses, setting the stage for what could be a thrilling turnaround in the season.

Baylor, boasting a 9-1 record after losing to Michigan State on Saturday, has been one of the formidable teams this season. Yet, Duke, undeterred, stepped up to the challenge and made a resounding statement.

Duke's Statement

Despite the absence of star guard Tyrese Proctor, Duke's young freshmen, Jared McCain and Caleb Foster, didn't just fill in; they shone brightly. Their performance was a testament to their talent and potential, stepping up in a big way when their team needed them the most.

Despite being a young team with most of their star players being freshmen or sophomores, the leadership of senior guard Jeremy Roach has had an incredible impact. His guidance has been instrumental in shaping this young team's trajectory so far.

The Blue Devils needed to make sure they left New York with a win, and losing another big game against an excellent team would leave a bad taste in many Duke fan's mouths.

Luckily, the Blue Devils came up with a massive 78-70 win, and they are getting better with every game. Duke will be a problem when they head into ACC play shortly, and they can very well have the season again as they did in 2022-2023, growing up throughout the year and winning the ACC.

Duke is going to have a good season, and if they go on to do great things, you might have to look back on their win against Baylor and say this is where it started.
