Dyson Daniels Hits Game Winner As Australia Top France In Olympic Basketball Warmup

Australia squeezed through by the barest of margins, to defeat France 83-82. The match came down to the last second, where Dyson Daniels hit the reverse layup off the Josh Giddey inbound pass to take the lead with exactly one second remaining. Victor Wembanyama’s three-point attempt at the buzzer came up short and France has now lost four consecutive games.

Patty Mills Is Still That Guy

Mills reminded the world why he’s always regarded as one of the best players in any international tournament including Olympic Basketball. He hit multiple clutch jump shots late in the fourth to keep Australia in it and finished with 24 points on 10-16 from the field.

Josh Giddey also had a standout performance for the ‘Boomers’, finishing with 20 points. He also added 8 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 stocks.

France On 4-Game Skid

France was on a 7-game win streak after their win over Germany on the 7th of July. They are now on a 4-game losing streak, with defeats coming against Germany, Serbia, Canada, and Australia. 

It's tough competition, but these are games the French will have to pull out if they want to compete for Gold in their home Olympics. 

Victor Wembanyama was easily the best player today for the French, scoring 17 points with 12 rebounds and 8 assists. His 8th assist was him playing Point Guard, running a pick and roll, and then throwing an alley-oop pass to Rudy Gobert, truly a wild thing to see from a guy 7 '4.

Olympics Are Around The Corner

These two teams have completed their warm-up games, and Australia take on Spain in the first official game of the Paris Olympics on the 27th. France will face Brazil a day later, a game certain to draw a massive and insanely loud crowd.
