Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham is hanging up his cleats after this upcoming NFL season. The 36-year-old announced that his 15th season will be his last.

Graham was drafted No. 13 overall in the 2010 NFL Draft and has spent his entire career in Philadelphia. He’s known for his trash talk on the field, energetic personality and, of course, the strip sack of Tom Brady in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LII leading to the Eagles’ first Super Bowl Championship in franchise history.

Everything wasn’t always sunny in Philadelphia for the now fan favorite. The Eagles traded up in the draft to take Graham in a move that took many people by surprise. If the Eagles were going to trade up for anyone, it was almost certainly going to be for either safety Earl Thomas or fellow defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Thomas was selected with the very next pick by the Seattle Seahawks, and Pierre-Paul was taken right after him by the New York Giants.

It didn’t help that the former Michigan Wolverine got off to a slow start to his NFL career in a city where the fans and media are not afraid to express their opinions. This led many, including himself, to think that he was a bust.

Eagles fans must be happy that the organization decided to bet on Graham and keep him in Philadelphia all these years. He turned into one of the top defensive ends in the game and a core player for the franchise.

Graham is the longest-tenured player on the Eagles and ranks No. 1 for the most regular season games played in an Eagles uniform with 195. He’s also No. 4 on the Eagles’ all-time sacks list with 73, only three behind Clyde Simmons and 12.5 behind Trent Cole. Reggie White is No. 1 with 124 sacks as an Eagle.

The Eagles should be one of the top teams in the NFL heading into this season giving the Eagles legend a shot at retiring on top with his second Super Bowl parade. Graham will join fellow Philadelphia legends Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox in retirement in back-to-back years.

Football will miss you, BG!
