Euro 2024: Futures Betting Odds And Picks

Euro 2024 - The European soccer championships officially start on Friday, June 14th, as hosts Germany face Scotland in the Group A opener. 24 of Europe's top national teams square off to crown a champion. Based on sportsbook odds, 3 teams can be considered clear favorites to lift the trophy in Berlin exactly one month from the start of the tournament on July 14th. Those three favorites are England, France, and the hosts, Germany.

While it's hard to argue against the odds on these 3 nations as they truly do all possess the right components necessary to be victorious, let's delve deeper to find some possible value on some of the 'outsiders' of the tournament. First, here are the Euro 2024 betting odds of all the participants of the tournament::

· England +350

· France +400

· Germany +550

· Portugal +650

· Spain +800

· Italy +1400

· Belgium +1600

· Netherlands +1600

· Croatia +4000

· Denmark +4000

· Turkey +5000

· Switzerland +6600

· Austria +6600

· Serbia +8000

· Hungary +8000

· Scotland +10000

· Ukraine +10000

· Czech Republic +15000

· Poland +15000

· Romania +20000

· Slovenia +25000

· Albania +50000

· Georgia +50000

· Slovakia +50000

Of the 3 favorites, there is good value on the hosts Germany +550. As the host nation riding a wave of confidence and momentum, they have a core group of experienced winners like Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos, and Thomas Müller who have lifted major trophies. This veteran leadership will be complemented by an exciting crop of talented youngsters lighting up the Bundesliga.

Chief among the rising stars are Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala. Wirtz was the Bundesliga Player of the Season, racking up over 20 goals and assists combined for Bayer Leverkusen. Musiala, at just 21 years old, is already a four-time league champion with Bayern Munich. Other blossoming talents like Maximilian Beier and Aleksandar Pavlović provide youthful exuberance. This blend of experience and potential makes Germany's squad formidable.

The Germans also catch a favorable draw in the group stage. As hosts, they open against Scotland, a side they are heavily favored against. Games versus Hungary and Switzerland appear very winnable as well. Topping the group would likely yield a round-of-16 match against Denmark before a potential quarterfinal clash with Spain. With the raucous home crowds behind them, Germany has all the ingredients to make a deep run and capture the European championship on home soil.

From the group that would be considered ‘longshots’, Croatia are worth a few of your hard-earned dollars to be placed on them winning the trophy. At +4,000 (40 to 1 odds), there is value on a team that took home silver from the 2018 World Cup and bronze in the 2022 World Cup. Success has bypassed them in the Euros as they found themselves exiting the tournament in the ‘Round of 16’ level in both of the 2 previous versions.

The knock on Croatia this year is their age. As the oldest team in the tournament, led by 38-year old Real Madrid star Luka Modric, questions are being raised about their stamina. But the Croatians themselves don’t look at their age as a negative but rather as ‘experience’ that can serve them well during the tournament. Croatia have been under the helm of manager Zlatko Dalic for 7 years now - a lifetime in managerial terms - who has instilled very solid, consistent and winning style of play. When considering the long odds of 40-1, there is value backing the always overachieving Croatians.

Top Goal-Scorer Odds:

· Kylian Mbappe (France) +450

· Harry Kane (England) +550

· Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) +1200

· Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) +1400

· Jude Bellingham (England) +2500

· Phil Foden (England) +2500

· Alvaro Morata (Spain) +2500

· Olivier Giroud (France) +3300

· Antoine Griezmann (France) +3300

· Kai Havertz (Germany) +3300

· Rasmus Hojlund (Denmark) +3300

· Bukayo Saka (England) +4000

· Florian Wirtz (Germany) +4000

· All Other Players listed at +5000 or higher

The value here lies squarely on Harry Kane (England) +550. England are the favorites to win the tournament and while I may not be placing my money on them to win it all, I certainly expect them to go deep into the tournament. Putting money on Kane, who has been outstanding at these very venues last season as he plays for the Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, is not only a good wager on his skills but also a bit of a hedge for not backing England to lift the trophy. Because surely, if England do go all the way, it’s hard to imagine they will do so without the golden boot of Harry Kane to back them up. Lots of value there.

As far as ‘longshots’ from the above list, Antoine Griezmann (France) at +3300 is worth putting a few bucks on. Like England, France are expected to go deep into the tournament. Griezmann, who can be considered inconsistent in league form at times, always seems to shine in big tournaments. And like Harry Kane can be considered a ‘hedge’ on England playing the maximum number of games at Euro 2024, the same can be said for Griezmann as a ‘hedge’ on not taking France to win it all.
