Fantasy Football Scam Artists: Week 3
Which Bozos scammed you out of a win this week
Quarterbacks:
Anthony Richardson
This may be a reality for Anthony Richardson. After a poor performance in week 2, he caps it off again by turning the ball over twice and accounting for 0 touchdowns. He is an electrifying player, every once in a while. The inaccurate throws and throws at defenders are what make him scary. If he doesn't run the ball he won't be a great fantasy play like people thought.
Baker Mayfield
After starting as QB 1 in fantasy, Baker has come back to earth. The game got out of hand early for the Buccaneers and Baker didn't look nearly as sharp as in previous weeks. The Broncos Secondary is great and this shouldn't be what we expect for Baker from here on out.
CJ Stroud
The Vikings are destroying QBs by forcing multiple turnovers in each game this year. Stroud will be fine. He is an Elite QB and people sometimes forget he is only in his second year. He'll bounce back from this in a big way in the coming weeks.
Running backs:
Devon Achane
It is going to be difficult for the Dolphins to get Achane going. With Tua being hurt, the threat of the passing game isn't there at all. Skylar Thompson can't be asked to carry the offense as Tua did, which puts more stress on the run game. Achane will be consistently catching the ball out of the backfield, but he has little to no rushing upside until the Dolphins can make teams respect the pass.
Josh Jacobs
Jacobs has yet to find the endzone in 2024. Especially surprising with how many rush attempts the Packers are averaging with Malik Willis. This was just a down game against a good Tennessee front 7. Look for Jacobs to finally score next week against Minnesota.
James Connor
The Cardinals went pass-heavy in week 3. Only giving Connor 9 carries for 17 yards. Just a week after 19 carries for 122, Connor struggled against Detroit. Connor has been great so far this year and will continue to be in the future. The more touches he receives the better, look for him to rebound next week.
Wide Receivers:
Ceedee Lamb
The Ravens blanketed Ceedee Lamb all day. They made it a point of emphasis for him not to beat them. This could happen more this year as Dallas doesn't have many weapons for Dak to go to besides Ceedee. He is still the best WR in fantasy and should have huge games coming up.
Tyreek Hill
This is not Tyreek's fault. Similar to Achane, it is going to be difficult for him to do much with a revolving door of QBs. Until Miami can get the QB situation figured out look for Hill to underperform to no fault of his own. Hill owners should shop him, and see if they can get top 3-round talent in return if they need to win now.
Zay Flowers
The Ravens ran the football. That pretty much sums up the performance from Flowers this week as he just didn't see much action, nor did any of his pass-catching teammates. This can happen because of how dominant Baltimore's run game is. Flowers is a start-each-week player, as the true number-one option for the Ravens.
Xavier Worthy
After a huge week 1 Worthy has looked mediocre. The Chiefs have become a more dink-and-dunk team using their run game and Rashee Rice to move the ball. Worthy is a great player with blazing speed. As teams start to try and stop Rice, and the run, shot plays for Worthy will be seen more often. Worthy is a spot-start each week and will be up and down all year.
Tight Ends:
Mark Andrews, Travis Kelce, Sam Laporta
These guys have been so bad the first three weeks, they are getting grouped together. The tight end position this year has been horrible. Andrews, Kelce, and Laporta were the first three tight ends taken this year and have not gone over 10 points. They have been bad. Kelce is getting a lot of attention in KC and his outlook can only improve as they try to feed him the ball. Andrews may be in trouble as he isn't getting looks at all. Sam Laporta is in an offense that just has too many weapons to rely on him to be as good as he was last year. The TE position will improve overall, but for now, it's looking dreadful.
