Fantasy Football Scam Artists: Week 4

What players failed you this week and made you the laugh of your league

Quarterbacks:

Anthony Richardson

This week can't all fall on Anthony Richardson. He got hurt early in the game on a hit by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Before the injury however, he was off to a good start going 3/4 for 71 yards and 23 yards on the ground. Richardson is up and down and is a big play-dependent player.

Derek Carr

After being one of the best QBs to start the year Derek Carr has come back down to earth and against the Atlanta Falcons, Carr struggled to get much going. He went 28 of 36 for 239 yards and an interception. Carr has begun to play like the QB most fantasy players thought he was and there doesn't seem to be any signs that he will turn it around.

Josh Allen

Josh Allen has been one of the best fantasy QBs this year. He has also been one of the worst at times. Baltimore was a tough matchup, and when the Bills went down early, it looked like it would be even worse. Allen was forced to throw the ball a lot and ended up fumbling it on a bad play design by the Bills. There is no reason to be concerned about Allen he is going to return to his top 3 QB spot next week and people will forget about this one.

Running Backs:

Breece Hall

How can you even begin to describe what Breece Hall did on Sunday? If it wasn't for a late reception Hall may have scored under a point in PPR leagues. As a consensus top 5 pick this is not something anyone expected from Hall. After watching the game, however, it was clear that the weather played a major factor. With Rodgers and the Jets unable to throw the ball the Broncos went heavy to stop the run. Breece will bounce back in a big way and make people regret thinking this could be a worry.

James Cook

James Cook is in a similar situation to Josh Allen. Cook needs a run-first game script to be successful. That's the opposite of what the Bills did against the Ravens. Look for Cook to have a good stretch of weeks ahead as he hasn't had that big yardage game yet that is coming. This was just a bad day for any Bills fantasy owner and shouldn't be a problem going forward.

Devin Singletary

Singletary was coming off of two straight solid performances for the Giants. This week however was not in his favor. He managed only 4.8 points in PPR formats. Singletary is not looked at as one of the best runningbacks in fantasy but, with all the injuries around the league he could be starting on many teams. Singletary should still dominate the carries for the Giants resulting in chances to score points. Don't have too many expectations for Singletary but feel free to start him.

Wide Receivers:

Zay Flowers

Flowers is coming off back-to-back disappointments. This is not a Flowers issue, however. In weeks 1 & 2 the Ravens played in tight games from behind at some points and struggled to run the ball. In weeks 3 & 4 Derrick Henry went for 150 rushing yards in both games in winning efforts. Baltimore is going to run the ball, as we have seen. When they need to throw it Flowers is the go-to guy and will receive a lot of targets. Don't panic on Flowers yet but if there is an opportunity to trade him for a guy in a pass-first offense it would be a good idea.

Brandon Aiyuk

What is there to do with Brandon Aiyuk? After a summer of drama revolving around Aiyuks contract, he finally got a deal done. He has not lived up to that deal in any way. Aiyuk hasn't hit the 10-point mark once this year even with stars like Kittle, McCaffrey, and Deebo Samuel. He even has been outperformed by Jauan Jennings this season. It is getting to a point where you may not be able to start him. If you can trade him you should look to target guys like Michael Pittman, Amari Cooper, and DJ Moore. All have more upside than Aiyuk.

Garrett Wilson

Garrett Wilson has been arguably the biggest disappointment from a top-15 pick this year. While he has been okay scoring 10 plus points in the first three weeks. He still hasn't had over 60 yards in a game. This is not something anyone would have expected since Aaron Rodgers has returned. This last week was a bad example the weather prohibited the team from getting much going in the air. Wilson is needed for fantasy managers to compete. If there is a trade that makes sense make it. If you can wait it may pay off as the receiver Wilson was expected to be.

Tight Ends

Cole Kmet

After a massive week from Kmet, he has to come back down to earth somehow. Going forward Kmet seems like he may be a good option at the position going forward. Especially with the up-and-down performances from other Tight Ends. With the positive progression of Caleb Williams, it looks like Kmet will be more and more involved in the Offense. Kmet is a starter going forward if there aren't any better options.

Brock Bowers

Bowers won't be on this list for long. After two great weeks, he has hit a bit of a rough patch. This has nothing to do with Bowers's talent, it more concerns the number of targets and QB play from the Raiders. Brock is too much of a weapon to not be utilized and going forward it looks like the Raiders may make it more of a priority. Receiver Davantae Adams is looking to be traded which may open up a lot more targets for Brock. Bowers is a top play each week.
