Final Four Teams As Hogwarts Houses

Here we are again, it's the college playoffs season. Last time, we compared the football teams to Christmas movies. Now, with the four men teams in the Final Four, we will be comparing them to the four houses in Hogwarts from the Harry Potter series.

Ravenclaw: Purdue Boilermakers

The Purdue basketball team this year is reminiscent of Ravenclaw House of Hogwarts, in Harry Potter, where intellect, strategy, and precision are emphasized. Purdue has a deep understanding of the game and their intelligence helps them analyze opponents' tactics while developing innovative plays with Zach Edey and the rest of the team, much like Ravenclaws.

Purdue is more than Zach Edey. The guards of their team have great shooting skills from a distance and the whole team has a well-rounded defense, which makes them a formidable team. Both Purdue and Ravenclaw value academic excellence and promote continuous learning and personal development. Purdue is a great example of how well it embodies Ravenclaw House's fundamental principles.

Gryffindor: Alabama Crimson Tide

This year, the Alabama basketball team represents the spirit of Gryffindor House through their bravery, passion, and unwavering commitment to honor and teamwork. Just like Gryffindors, the players display courage and resilience on the court, fearlessly taking on challenges and rallying together to win four consecutive games in the tournament, after finishing the season with a 2-4 record.

If you've watched the Harry Potter movies, you'd know that Gryffindor loses the House Cup in their first year, but Dumbledore adds extra points for a game of chess to help them win. You would also know about the time Dumbledore awarded Harry second place in the Triwizard tournament for his outstanding moral fiber.

I bring up this point because, just as Gryffindor had Dumbledore, Alabama has their Athletic Director, Greg Byrnes, on the selection committee. Due to this, some teams, such as Clemson, have accused Alabama of cheating after their loss to them in the tournament.

Some also argue that we had the easiest trip to the Final Four because of Byrnes' influence. However, I disagree and do not believe that Byrnes had anything to do with it.

Hufflepuff: North Carolina State

North Carolina State's basketball team is a perfect embodiment of Hufflepuff House's core values. These players demonstrate dedication, teamwork, and humility, much like Hufflepuffs. They show unwavering loyalty and commitment to their team, always placing the team's success above individual glory.

Similar to Hufflepuffs, inclusivity and acceptance are important values for NC State basketball. They foster a supportive and inclusive environment where every player is valued and encouraged to contribute their unique strengths.

Their success is built on a foundation of trust, respect, and camaraderie, making them a formidable force on the court. North Carolina State basketball stands as a shining example of Hufflepuff's ethos, embodying the virtues of diligence, unity, and fair play.

Slytherin: UConn

The UConn basketball team has been likened to the cunning and ambition of Slytherin House from the Harry Potter series due to their relentless drive to achieve victory and strategic gameplay, which allows them to navigate the court with calculated precision much like Slytherin's maneuvers.

The team's resourcefulness is comparable to the reputation of Slytherin, as they adeptly utilize their skills and talents to outmaneuver opponents with their height and secure victories.

Donovan Clingan and the rest of the team exhibit a strong desire for success, employing clever tactics and seizing opportunities to dominate the game, much like the ambition associated with Slytherin House. Together, they exhibit a formidable synergy, showcasing the cunning and determination reminiscent of Slytherin House.

Summary

I enjoyed watching another Harry Potter marathon while writing my article. I think UConn's Slytherin house will win the house cup again this year; they are too big and talented not to repeat..
