Five NFL Futures Bets That Could Have Legs In 2024
It’s that time of the year when the sports schedule is dominated by baseball, and we’re just itching for the return of the NFL, which is so close. We’re almost there, boys. In the meantime, you could responsibly check out some future bets to pass the time. There's some value out there.
5. Sam LaPorta 10+ Receiving Touchdowns (+210)
Coming off of a great rookie season where Sam LaPorta seemed to be Jared Goff’s favorite target on the field, look for LaPorta to put up double-digit touchdowns for a second straight year. He has a real chance to be the TE1 in fantasy football, and Travis Kelce even called him the best tight end at Tight End University.
Sure, teams will have a better chance to game plan for him in year two, but it still feels like he’s due to ascend as one of the league’s best in 2024.
4. Maxx Crosby 15+ Sacks (+250)
Last season, Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby put up 14.5 sacks, so who is to say he can’t get one more in 2024? He’ll be 27 years old when the season starts, so his best football is still ahead of him, and he’s already played some outstanding football. His number of sacks saw a jump of two from 2022 to 2023. If he can keep climbing with that trajectory, this one looks good.
3. Saquon Barkley Over 6.5 Rushing Touchdowns (-130)
The odds aren’t as excellent on this one, but it still feels like a good bet. Saquon Barkley was able to put up six rushing touchdowns last season with the Giants, so why can’t he put up seven with the Eagles?
He’ll have a much better offensive line, and you’d have to imagine that the Eagles want to try to keep Jalen Hurts as healthy as possible this season. Plus, will Jason Kelce’s retirement hinder the Brotherly Shove? It might be time to return to the running-back punches now that they have a star like Barkley.
2. Saints To Win The NFC South (+350)
Alright, let’s get crazy. The odds for the New Orleans Saints to win the NFC South are at +350 right now, and with their defense and a new offense, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the worst division in football is up for grabs come December.
According to Warren Sharp, the Saints have the fifth most manageable schedule in the NFL. Even with the Buccaneers and New Look Falcons favored over them, it’s not likely that the Saints will just lay down and die this season. If they do, don’t let the door hit you, Dennis Allen.
1. Steelers Over 8.5 Regular Season WIns (+136)
Another pick that might not have the sexiest odds is refusing to bet against Mike Tomlin and the Steelers defense, even though, according to Warren Sharp, they have the toughest schedule in the NFL.
While you don’t know what their offense will look like under Arthur Smith, it’s almost impossible to be worse than it was, especially with the new quarterbacks. The defense only improved with the addition of Patrick Queen and getting Cam Heyward healthy again.
