Grant Hill Reveals Future Of Jaylen Brown With Team USA After Ugly Spat
Team USA managing director Grant Hill has provided a clue about Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown's future with the Team USA men's basketball team.
The reigning NBA Finals MVP was controversially left out of this year's national team squad competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Hill discussed the possibility of Brown making the next Team USA roster for the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be held in Los Angeles, during an appearance in the Open Run podcast with host Rachel Nichols.
"There's a lot of noise. I'm confident he and I will sit down at some point and talk about it, and get to some level of understanding. He'll be a candidate if he wants in '28," the former seven-time NBA All-Star declared.
Even with Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard withdrawing from the Team USA training camp before the Olympics due to his extensive injury history, it was Brown's teammate, Celtics point guard Derrick White, who took Leonard's spot in Paris.
With the abundance of talent available for the Team USA roster, Hill admitted that he personally called other NBA stars who might be omitted from the team despite their merit, including Brown, Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard, and Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George.
Jaylen Brown Disappointed Over Missing Team USA Olympic Squad
Brown did not hide his disappointment upon learning that he was not included in the Team USA squad for Paris, making several posts on social media and even implying that Nike, the team's official uniform supplier, had an influence on the roster selection.
Hill labeled Brown's accusations as a conspiracy theory in a recent interview, prompting the three-time NBA All-Star to respond to the Hall of Famer's comments on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Three players from the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics are part of the current Team USA roster -- Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White.
