Green Bay Packers 53-Man Roster Predictions

The Green Bay Packers have made a lot of moves this offseason that will help the team on its quest to win the Super Bowl. After signing key free agents in Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney, drafting tackle Jordan Morgan in the first round, and bringing in new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, the Packers are set for the upcoming 2024 season.

While it is still only June, and the team could make more roster moves, here are projections for who will make and miss the Green Bay Packers 53-man roster, which will be finalized in late August. There were not many tough decisions to make, although there were a few that I went back and forth on.

Offense Roster Projections (25):

*denotes projected starter

*denotes rookie

Quarterback (2): Jordan Love, Sean Clifford

Quarterbacks

With Love being the starter, the dilemma was who would back him up. While Michael Pratt is talented, I gave Clifford the edge to win the backup job as he has a year of experience over Pratt.

Running Back (3): Josh Jacobs, A.J. Dillon, MarShawn Lloyd

Running Backs

Josh Jacobs has some big shoes to fill after replacing Aaron Jones. A.J. Dillon is back on a cheap deal, while rookie MarShawn Lloyd is a lock for the roster. While Emmanuel Wilson had a great preseason last year, he is most likely the odd man out, as I don't see Green Bay keeping four running backs. He will revert to the practice squad.

Wide Receiver (6): Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, Malik Heath

Wide Receivers

With Reed, Watson, Doubs, and Wicks proven reliable receivers, the tough decision was the final two spots. Bo Melton is a lock because he had a great end to the season, while Heath gets the nod over Grant DeBose and Samori Toure,

Tight End (4): Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft, Ben Sims, Tyler Davis

Tight End

While the Packers may switch between Kraft and Musgrave as the starter, I expect Sims and Davis to make the roster once again since no other tight ends are signed at the moment.

Offensive Line (10): Rasheed Walker, Elgton Jenkins, Josh Myers, Sean Rhyan, Zach Tom, Jordan Morgan, Andre Dillard, Royce Newman, Jacob Monk, Travis Glover

Offensive Line

The offensive line is the biggest piece of the puzzle, as half of these guys can start at multiple positions. Caleb Jones and Luke Tenuta deserve a shot at making the roster, but I give Andre Dillard the edge over experience.

Tough Decision To Cut: QB Michael Pratt, T Luke Tenuta

Tough Decision To Cut

Quarterback Michael Pratt and tackle Luke Tenuta will be cut.

Defense Roster Projections (25):

*denotes projected starter

*denotes rookie

Edge Rusher (4): Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare

Edge Rusher

Rashan Gary and Preston Smith are really good, so there is no doubt they will start. Lukas Van Ness is expected to break out in his sophomore season, and I gave Enagbare the nod over Brenton Cox Jr due to experience.

Linebacker (5): Quay Walker, Isaiah McDuffie, Edgerrin Cooper, Eric Wilson, Ty'Ron Hopper

Linebacker

There are high expectations for Walker and McDuffie this year, and Cooper is an exciting rookie prospect. Eric Wilson is also a lock after his fumble recovery versus San Francisco in the playoffs. Hopper, being a third-round pick, makes the roster over Christian Young.

Defensive Tackle (5): Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt, TJ Slaton, Karl Brooks, Colby Wooden

Defensive Tackle

The big decision in the defensive tackle room was losing Jonathan Ford, but keeping Colby Wooden is a must, as he has shown flashes. Clark has been one of the best nose tackles in the NFL since 2016, and Wyatt is looking to break out.

Cornerback (6): Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, Carrington Valentine, Keisean Nixon, Corey Ballentine, Kalen King

Cornerback

The Packers surprised fans by waiting until the seventh round to take a cornerback. That shows me they are confident with their group. As such, I expect their group to be the same as last year, with the addition of Kalen King.

Safety (5): Xavier McKinney, Javon Bullard, Evan Williams, Anthony Johnson Jr, Kitan Oladapo

Safety

Green Bay added three rookie safeties, who should all make the roster. Meanwhile, McKinney is a big free agent signing who replaces Darnell Savage Jr., and Johnson Jr. should also be a lock.

Tough Decision To Cut: S Zayne Anderson, LB Arron Mosby, LB Christian Young

Tough Decision To Cut

Zayne Anderson, and linebackers Arron Mosby, Christian Young get cut.

Special Teams Roster Projections (3):

Special Teams

*denotes projected starter

*denotes rookie

Kicker (1): Anders Carlson

Despite his missed field goal in the playoffs, the Packers still believe in Carlson, and he gets the edge over Greg Joseph.

Punter (1): Daniel Whelan

Whelan impressed as a rookie and is a lock to be the starting punter for Green Bay in 2024.

Long Snapper (1): Peter Bowden

With struggles at the long snapper position last season, I see Peter Bowden beating out incumbent Matt Orzech.
