Green Bay Packers Will Be Making A Major Change To Front Office
The Green Bay Packers football team is one of the most historical professional sports teams in the world. The 13-time NFL champions are also the only major league sports team to be owned by the city of Green Bay and not an ownership group or one person. This keeps the team in Green Bay despite it being one of the smallest markets in all of professional sports.
But the team does have a team president and CEO in former lawyer and Washington safety Mark Murphy. The 68-year-old has been in that position since 2008. Under him, the team has won a Super Bowl and has been one of the most successful NFL teams during his tenure. But there could be change to the Packers' front office in 2025.
President Mark Murphy Set To Retire In 2025
Mark Murphy has announced his intention to retire in 2025, when he turns 70 years-old. This is by Packers' law, which states that board members must retire after turning 70 years-old. Murphy will surely be missed as the search for the newest president and CEO goes on. There should be many candidates that could be interested in the job. But the favorite to replace Murphy is Packers' Chief Operating Officer Ed Policy.
Ed Policy Is The Favorite To Take Over
The former commissioner of the Arena Football League, Policy joined the Packers in 2012 as Vice President until he was promoted to COO in 2018. He and Murphy played a big role in securing the 2025 NFL Draft being hosted in Green Bay, which will be one of the largest events in the city's history. If the Packers go with Policy, they will be in good hands for the future. The 53-year-old would be the perfect replacement for the great Mark Murphy and all Packers' fans should be excited.
