Auburn Flips Electric Four-Star Running Back

Auburn RB Commit Alvin Henderson
Auburn RB Commit Alvin Henderson

Class of 2025, four-star running back Alvin Henderson (Elba High School, AL), who initially committed to Penn State in April, has flipped to Auburn.

Henderson, who stands at 5 foot 9 and 195 pounds, is the No. 8 RB, No. 13 recruit in AL, and the No. 147 nationally ranked recruit, according to On3's industry rankings.

Many insiders, including myself, believed that he would end up at Auburn, and his commitment to Penn State was seen as a surprise.

With Henderson's addition, Auburn's class has jumped from the No. 6 class to the No. 4 class in the nation.

What Alvin Henderson Brings To Auburn

While the Tigers will likely lose Jarquez Hunter to the NFL Draft, they are set to bring back Damari Alston and Jeremiah Cobb.

With the expected return of Alston and Cobb, the Tigers won't have to play Henderson early, and they can use him as more of a luxury than a must-play guy early.

Henderson is slightly undersized at 190 pounds and has the frame to add weight through Auburn's weight program. Even though he is somewhat undersized, he plays with good play strength and physicality, playing through contact and finding yards between the tackles.

Along with his play strength, he's shown short area burst and separation quickness, creating space in the open field and strong field vision.

As a Junior, he set records for rushing yards (3,523) and touchdowns (61), averaging 15.1 yards per carry, and won back-to-back Class 1A running back of the year awards.

Who's Next?

Henderson's commitment could be the first domino effect at running back, with the Tigers wanting to add at least two running backs to this class.

Another prospect to keep an eye on is the highly touted four-star Ousmane Kromah (Lee County High School) from Leesburg, GA. Kromah ranked as the No. 4 RB, the No. 12 recruit in Georgia, and the No. 83rd nationally, is a potential game-changer according to On3's industry rankings.

Kromah was named the region player of the year after rushing for 1,783 yards, 20 rushing touchdowns, and catching 31 passes for 522 yards with nine more touchdowns.
