Injuries Loom As The Ravens Took Care Of Business on Thursday Night

The Baltimore Ravens needed a victory on Thursday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals to assert their dominance in the AFC North. They did indeed take care of business with a 34-20 victory at M&T Bank Stadium improving their record to 8-3. Baltimore is the first AFC team to reach the eight-win total this year.

The biggest downside from the night was that both teams suffered injuries in the game. Cincinnati's quarterback Joe Burrow exited with a wrist injury and the Ravens had some concerns on their end as well.

The Ravens Suffered A Season Ending Injury

Tight end Mark Andrews suffered a serious ankle injury on the first drive of the game. He caught a pass from Lamar Jackson taking it to the four-yard line where he was stopped on a controversial hip-drop tackle by Logan Wilson. Andrews did not return, and coach John Harbaugh confirmed it was likely season ending.

Mark Andrews is a significant piece to the Ravens offense. Through ten games in 2023, he caught 45 passes for 544 yards, and six touchdowns. Since entering the league in 2018, he's been a reliable target making tough catches to move the chains. His presence will surely be missed.

Additionally, the Ravens had a scare at the quarterback position. Lamar Jackson appeared to have suffered an ankle injury towards the end of the first quarter. Luckily, he stayed in the game throwing for 264 yards, two touchdowns, and rushing for an additional 54 yards.

Afterwards, all eyes were on Jackson confirming his status for the rest of the season.

I'm good," Jackson said. "We need to stop talking about this ankle, I'm good. You see I just walked up here, I'm good. We ain't going to talk nothing into existence, speak nothing into existence, I'm good."

Ravens' fans can breathe a sigh of relief, but the loss of Mark Andrews could hurt. As for the Bengals, it is unknown how much time Burrow might miss. He was unable to grip the football causing him to head to the locker room. Cincinnati has to get ready to play the Pittsburgh Steelers next week, and at 5-5, every game is critical moving forward.

Meanwhile, Baltimore also has extra time to get ready for their next matchup, which is next Sunday night at the Los Angeles Chargers before their bye week.
