Irv Smith Jr's Fantasy Outlook For 2024
After promising first two seasons with the Vikings, Smith Jr. has failed to live up to his expectations on a year-to-year basis. Whether it’s been through injuries or just poor performances, he has provided both. He had a one-year stint with the Bengals, and this marked the worst season of his career, only producing 115 yards and a single TD.
The Bengals lacked a true standout at the TE position, and Smith Jr failed to gain a true role in a room that was lacking. This year, he finds himself in Kansas City, where he will likely be the 3rd string behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray, with a chance of Smith Jr. being cut.
It is unlikely he will carve out a role in this offense, but if he does, elite quarterback Patrick Mahomes should be able to provide enough targets to make him viable. However, for now, in no league format should he take up a roster spot.
Our consensus projections for Smith Jr in the 2024 season are 15 receptions, 135 yards, and 1 touchdowns.
