Is This Star Receiver About To Demand A Trade?

Ever since wide receiver Davante Adams signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, there has been constant dysfunction. Davante Adams expected to play with his former college quarterback Derek Carr, but the Raiders cut him just one year after Adams got there. With the Raiders not having a clear direction, should Davante Adams be on the trade market?

No Answer At Quarterback

After a year with over 1,500 yards receiving with Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams requested a trade and ended up on the Raiders. In Adams's first year with Derek Carr, he had a similar production with 1,516 yards.

However, the Raiders decided to cut Derek Carr after that year and they signed Jimmy Garoppolo, with injury issues and benching, Adams played with Aidan O'Connell and Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2023 season, and Adams had a down year for his standards and finished with 1,114 yards.

The Raiders currently have no long-term future at quarterback, and the veteran options on the market aren't talented enough to be real difference-makers. Las Vegas also likely won't be able to break into the top three picks to acquire a top quarterback in this class.

The Raiders just brought in a new regime with Antonio Pierce and Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator. Las Vegas currently doesn't have a clear direction as a franchise, and with Adams being 31, his timeline isn't a good fit for Las Vegas currently. The Raiders could also acquire a first-round pick from another team.

Potential Teams

The team that stands out for Adam's services is the New York Jets. Adams broke out with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, and he could form a dynamic duo with Garrett Wilson. A duo of Wilson and Rodgers would be at the top of the NFL in production and provide Rodgers with the receiving talent necessary to make a serious push. Key familiarity with Nathaniel Hackett, the offensive coordinator, and Aaron Rodgers makes this an interesting pairing.

The Cleveland Browns could also be a very interesting fit for Adams. The Browns have their franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson, and a consistent 1,000-yard receiving, Amari Cooper. Adams could provide the needed star talent to compete in the AFC North.
