Jacoby Brissett Gets First Crack At Fantasy Relevance In 2024
In the 2023 season, Jacoby Brissett played as backup to Sam Howell for most of the year. When he finally got the opportunity to take the starting role, he suffered a hamstring injury early on in the game. In years past, when given the chance as a starter, Brissett usually had very average numbers.
Going into the 2024 season, he will be back with the Patriots, who may have the worst roster he has ever had around him. The team has no proven playmakers. Rookies Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker have a chance to make an impact, but that is far from a sure thing. As of now, it looks like Brissett will be the week one starter as the Patriots plan to ease rookie Drake Maye into the NFL, but this is still not guaranteed.
The Patriots also have an entirely new coaching staff, which makes it unknown how this offseason will be run. Even if he does keep the starting job for a decent length of the season, the team around him makes him almost irrelevant in 1 QB league. In 2 QB leagues, he should be viewed as a QB 3, but he is still not someone you should trust starting weekly.
