Jaleel McLaughlin In A Crowded Room For Fantasy Success
Jaleel McLaughlin doesn't have the sexiest fantasy appeal, but he did provide flashes. As a 23-year-old undrafted rookie, he averaged 5.3 yards per touch in his 107 touches last season, earning him a great 86.2 PFF grade overall. However, the Broncos also drafted talented rookie RB Audric Estime out of Notre Dame.
With Estime joining the fold with Javonte Williams and Samaje Perine already there, it will be hard to see any of the four backs be significant fantasy contributors. Even if one running back is released, that still leaves three running backs sharing touches in an offense that likely won't get the chance to run a lot.
Denver finished 17th, 19th, and 21st in rushing attempts/game, rushing yards/game, and rushing yards per attempt, respectively…and that was with a mobile quarterback in Russell Wilson accounting for 341 of those yards. All four backs in that room (currently) are talented and dynamic in both the run and the receiving game; it is just hard to see any of them emerge as consistent fantasy contributors, barring injuries and multiple releases.
Our consensus projections for McLaughlin in the 2024 season are 95 carries for 356 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. As well as 24 receptions, 133 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
