Jamaal Williams Fantasy Hay Day Is Over
Jamaal Williams led the league in rushing touchdowns in 2022 on the Detroit Lions with 17. This was the first and probably the only time that he had double-digit touchdowns in a single season. The 29-year-old running back is now with the New Orleans Saints, who have Kamara and Keandre Miller ahead of him on the depth chart.
Williams has never been an overly efficient back with a career 3.9 yards per attempt, but on 106 carries last season, he had 306 yards (god-awful 2.9 yards per attempt) and 1 touchdown. He is another year older on an offense that projects not to have many goal-line situations; his best days are behind him.
Williams is practically untouchable in dynasty formats in redraft; depending on injuries, he could be useful at one point this season as a waiver wire pickup. No matter how cool of a dude Williams is, he most likely won't be contributing to your fantasy championships anymore, which is sad. However, if you had him on a championship roster while he was in Detriot, he is forever immortalized for you, and that is awesome.
Our consensus projections for Williams in the 2024 season are 72 carries for 384 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. As well as 10 receptions, 68 yards, and 0 touchdown.
