Jameis Winston Gets A Shot At Fantasy Success In 2024?
For the last two years, Jameis Winston has been the backup for the Saints and has gotten very limited opportunities. In some situations, he’s looked great. In some, he’s looked awful. This offseason Winston signed a deal with the Browns to be their backups which could be one of the best scenarios for him to earn time.
Browns' starting QB, Deshaun Watson, has struggled to stay healthy during his tenure with the team and hasn’t played up to standards either. Both of those give Winston some hope of maybe seeing the field as the team’s starter. If he is to become the starter at any point, going off what we know from Winston’s past, he will throw up a lot of yards and a lot of touchdowns.
Sadly, those two are countered by the high number of interceptions he has thrown. Winston would have some solid targets around him, such as Amari Cooper, Jerry Juedy, and David Njoku, to allow him to produce numbers similar to those of his past. Due to what he's been able to do in the past and his situation, he will definitely be one of the top backup QBs to monitor during this season.
He should not be getting drafted in any 1 QB league (redraft or dynasty) and should only be drafted in 2 QB leagues if you have deep enough bench space to roster him.
